Discover UH-Hilo’s Bachelors and Masters Degree Programs Available on Maui
Programs to be offered in Education, Psychology, Nursing, and More!
June 10, 2010 (Kahului, HI)- Discover opportunities to increase your earning potential and expand your career options with Dr. Candace Wheeler, University of Hawai’i-Hilo’s (UH-Hilo) Distance Learning Coordinator. Hosted by the University of Hawai’i Center, Maui, Dr. Wheeler will be making a special appearance on Maui on Thursday June 17th at 6pm to provide the inside scoop on a variety of UH-Hilo’s bachelor’s and master’s degree options in addition to certification programs available to Maui residents. This unique opportunity to ask questions about UH-Hilo’s distance programs in an informal face-to-face environment will take place in Laulima 102 on the UHMC campus. Refreshments will be provided.
Currently UH-Hilo offers a Registered Nursing (RN) to BSN program, a certificate in Communications, a BA in Psychology, an MA in Indigenous Language and Culture Education, the Kahuawaiola Indigenous Teacher Education certificate program, and the post-baccalaureate certification in Secondary Teacher Education Program (DL-Steps). Dr. Wheeler will go over admissions policies, program deadlines, financial aid, program curriculum, and learning in a distance education environment.

The University of Hawaii Center, Maui was established by the UH Board of Regents in 1996, providing over 845 Maui residents the opportunity to earn their degrees while continuing to live in Maui County. The UH Center, Maui offers selected programs from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, the University of Hawai`i at West Oahu, and the University of Hawai`i at Hilo. Courses are taught on-site on the University of Hawai`i Maui College campus (UHMC), via the internet, and by videoconferencing, allowing students to engage with their professors and classmates in real-time. Many of the programs cater to Maui’s business professionals and students raising families by offering courses conveniently on the evenings and weekends.
