Scientist Brings Exclusive 3-D Filmmaking Technology to Maui
Uncategorized
August 11, 2010 (Pukalani, HI)- Dr. Gary Greenberg, a Maui-based scientist, is looking to put Maui on the map in the world of 3D filmmaking with the launch of a new business venture. 3D Microscope Photo and Video Services offers filmmakers and creative industry professionals the ability to shoot three-dimensional HD video and photographic images using Dr. Greenberg's patented Edge 3D Microscope. The Edge 3D microscope is the only microscope in the world that produces real-time motion 3D movies.
A unique benefit of the Edge 3D is that it offers a cost effective alternative to the expensive computer generated imaging traditionally used by media companies. "You don't need a budget big enough to produce Avatar and you can save thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for expensive CGI sequences." states Greenberg. The Edge 3D magnifies images hundreds of times, providing much greater depth of field and allowing the viewer to see the intricate patterns that make up the fabric of our reality.
Dr. Greenberg has extensive experience working on creative photography and film projects. Beginning his career as photographer and filmmaker, he worked on the first Superman film where he transformed a human pancreatic cancer cell into the planet Kyrpton. Recently, he photographed moon dust on loan from NASA taken during the Apollo 11 mission. He also has received national recognition for his sand grain photographs which currently on display at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Dr. Greenberg is currently the Director of the Microscopy & Microanalysis Laboratory at the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy in Pukalani.
The Edge 3D technology is accessible to clients worldwide, as samples can easily be mailed from around the world to the lab location on Maui.
